  • Situated on the High Street of Eton, close to the River Thames and between the historic buildings of Eton College and Windsor Castle, Gilbey’s is open from 12 noon for lunch (excluding Mondays) and 6.00 pm for dinner every day.

Originally an old butcher’s shop, we created one of the first wine bars outside London in 1975 – The Eton Wine Bar. After 25 years of success, we changed the name in 2000 to Gilbey’s, recognising that our food had outgrown the original wine bar concept.

Our food style is best described as ‘Modern British’ – although with our French Head Chef in charge (Amaury de Oliveira) there is a decidedly French twist! Choice, value and quality are paramount.

We work wherever possible with local ingredients and it is vital that our menus are in tune with the seasons. There are quite a few committed vegetable growers in the team so they do know what’s what! The menus at Gilbey’s Eton reveal all.

We keep in touch with the northern hemisphere grape-growing season too as we own and run our own English vineyard.

Our friendly and efficient team look forward to welcoming you in either the stunning Conservatory Restaurant, Bar or intimate Courtyard Garden.
