  • Situated in the beautiful 17th Century former grammar school building in the heart of the historic Chiltern’s market town, Gilbey’s Old Amersham is open every day from 12.00 noon for lunch and from 6.45pm for dinner but please note we are closed on Sunday evenings.

Having successfully created the first Gilbey’s in Eton in 1975, we acquired what was then the celebrated old tea shop (The Willow Tree) in 1989. After extensive alterations on the history-steeped listed building, Gilbey’s was established, boasting a stylish yet intimate restaurant, a stunning first-floor private dining room and an attractive garden.

Our food style is best described as ‘Modern British’ – with our Head Chef in charge Adam Whitlock heading up the team!

Quality, value & choice are paramount; and our chefs thrive on making sure they get the best flavour out of the ingredients.

We work wherever possible with local growers & their ingredients, and it is vital to us that our menus are in tune with the seasons. Adam works with the very best suppliers to ensure that we get the very best ingredients to work with. The menus at Gilbey’s Amersham reveal all.

We also keep in touch with the northern hemisphere grape-growing season too, as we specialise (and always have) in importing directly from passionate individual French growers. We are of course very proud to include wines from our own English vineyard too!!

Our team is dedicated to delivering the very best quality and value to our customers and assure you of a very warm welcome at Gilbey’s Old Amersham.
