River Cottage

River Cottage in Axminster has given millions of TV viewers a taste for great cooking since 1998, when Hugh first brought his famous food ethos to Channel 4. Its hard-hitting campaigns have changed the eating habits of a nation and improved the welfare and sustainability of animals and fish.

These days River Cottage splits neatly into two.

Its River Cottage HQ, found on the Devon and Dorset border, is home to everything it does and is the base for its Cookery and Chefs’ School, unique dining experiences and memorable events.

There are four Canteens, its award-winning restaurants and delis based in the South West where it combines its philosophy with the finest producers in Axminster, Bristol, Plymouth and – most recently – Winchester.

River Cottage Canteen Axminster is the perfect place to enjoy fresh, seasonal produce transformed into delicious dishes with a tasty River Cottage twist.

Situated in the heart of the historic market town Axminster and a short drive from River Cottage HQ, the canteen offers guests a wonderful experience. From laidback lunches to dancing the night away with regular live music and a fantastic selection of cocktails and English wine.

Guests can also take home some of the local produce on offer throughout the menu from the Axminster deli situated at the front of the canteen. Coffee, cake and snacks are also available all day.

The canteen is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and is the perfect place for friends and family to catch up. There is a dedicated children’s menu and plenty to keep the children entertained, while the evenings come to life with the Canteen Cocktail Club, meet the supplier events and much more
