Molly’s Tea Room in Hitchin was established in December 2014 and serving its first customers by January 2015. From the outset the aim was for the friendly, convivial atmosphere of a 1940s style tea room. Reminiscent of the Lyon’s Tea Shops that were popular in the pre war era and only stopped in the 1960s, Molly’s provides table service in a relaxed environment but focusses on tea rather than coffee – there is no vast chrome coffee machine spluttering away in the background, no coffee grounds being hammered out… just a quiet urn and an endless supply of tea pots with lovely, hand knitted cosies.
Pride of place on the counter-top goes to Molly’s home made cakes – these are baked fresh on the premises every day. With the firm favourites of coffee and walnut, a traditional Victoria sponge and the deeply delicious chocolate brownies and the gluten free cakes, there’s always something to tempt you.

Afternoon Tea is a speciality at Molly’s Tea Room and always a delightful treat to share - just £13 per person.
